The Giants despite now losing 6 of the last 7 games and sitting at 7-8 can still make the playoffs with a win. Are you kidding me? Washington had been putting some solid games together but lost an OT thriller to a Rams team in St. Louis that ran all over them last week. That still bodes better for them since the Giants look like they basically gave up last week. The Giants are playing as if they are just hoping to end the season, and winning this game could possibly extend it for them. It's not so much that the Skins won't let that happen in their house, it's that the Giants wouldn't dare want to extend the season and instead of starring on talk shows, they might have to practice for Coughlin another week.

Philly is not resting on their laurels, with a shot to win this game and win the NFC East title they will be flying furiously into this game. Atlanta can still qualify for a playoff spot with a win, and some help, so they will be playing hard in this one as if it were their playoff game. That will make this bird battle one with high stakes. Someone say Steaks? I was just in Philly they sure make a mean Cheesesteak, I love Cheesesteak.

Baltimore sure didn't mail it in last week, and if a 31-7 whipping up on the champs don't announce to the league that Baltimore (and my 20-1 shot back in August!) is coming to play I don't know what will. Buffalo was on a huge roll cashing in for 7 straight ATS, but had their bubble burst last week at home by Tennessee, that could have a big let down effect for them in this game. The Ravens could also be resting their starters possibly, or they could be mentally resting in this game if you dig, so that is another angle to consider. By what I saw from that Raven defense Sunday though, the only mailing anyone is doing is for post season reservations, the Ravens are rolling toward that home field.

New Orleans just looks to be playing fantastic ball right now and heading into the playoffs are a dangerous team. Carolina came back last week with a nice rebound in Atlanta, but the Falcons like to run the ball a bunch, which Carolinas front seven could contain. Drew Brees and the Saints will attack at the weak corners of the Carolina defense through the air, and with all the weapons New Orleans has on offense I don't see any way Carolina will be able to contain that. The oddsmakers are figuring for the Saints laying down in this game having it all wrapped up. They don’t know Sean Payton too well now do they? Who Dat? The Saints send New Orleans off into the playoffs with a snap of more confident play.

Check this out, Texans RB Ron Dayne broke out last week and had a ton of yards and a couple TDs as Houston got a W. Yet they were home against the Colts who can forget how to play the run at times. Cleveland seemed to forget they had a game last week and were blasted by the Bucs. However since someone has to win this game, I kind of like Houston to keep on running against that Browns defense they are 3-2 in the last 5 home games and played hard against two pretty good teams in the two losses there. Little leery of the new QB in Cleveland Ken Dorsey as in the Tim Rattay factor for Tampa sort of way, but I still like Houston to trample that defense. No it’s not Boo they are yelling, it’s… Mooo!

What to make of them Cowboys? Are they the super team they look like some weeks, or are they mere playoff fodder getting ready to do the one and done. Getting embarrassed at home by Philly is one thing, but Detroit can't go into Dallas and do it again? I don't know about that the Lions gave Chicago about all they could handle and the Lions are still fighting hard. Although I can't see a Parcells team dropping two in a row at home right before the playoffs, and Detroit should be just the confidence boost the Boys need to get it going the right way for the Playoffs. Detroit is still scrapping and scoring some points, with a big spread like that some Lion fans may be happy to see this season come to a close.

A great playoff type game in the AFC, even if neither of these two may be going to the playoffs. Both teams will be looking to end the season on a high note anyway. The Chiefs think that they still have a pulse in the playoff picture. The Jags squandered any shot to clinch weeks ago, and are an enigma, are they the team that can come out and dominate like they have or are they the team Houston ran all over and swept. The Jags are still tough against the run, but despite the strong running of Maurice Jones-Drew are still struggling offensively. They can run on the Chiefs, but in Kansas City even with the Chiefs bickering a little, a fired up Chief team in Arrowhead, will be too tough an obstacle to overcome.

One of my analysts told me the Colts are like the Giants they have just called it in for the season. I don't know about the playoffs, but when Ron Dayne and the Texans roll it up on you, it's hard to see them doing much in the postseason. Unlike some teams with playoff possibilities that have squandered them away with uninspired play, Miami is still playing hard, on Defense especially, they just aren’t getting any spark on offense. They got Ronnie Brown back in the mix last week, and even as Coach Saban eyes the College game once again the Dolphins will get some Ronnie Brown rolling in Indy where everyone runs on anyways. The Colts will treat it like a preseason game and pack it in early, and fans can get an eyeful of Cleo Lemon throwing to Marcus Vick Dolphin farewell to Nick Saban.

Ohh boy ain't this one a doozy. The Pats seem to be rolling right as they head to the postseason. While in Tennessee postseason was the last thing they were talking about after an 0-5 start. There are possibilities whereby Tennessee could wind up in the playoffs. Playoffs or not Tennessee fans will have plenty of hope for next season. The Titans continue to be the hottest team in the NFL, having now won six in a row, seven in a row if you care about the spread or such. As far as this one goes, I don’t care if a team is so hot it can fly like the human torch in the fantastic four. Bet against New England in late December, you are kidding me right?

The Bengals muffed thier chance to get into the postseason last week on a bad snap for an extra point. Shows you that football is more than just throwing TDs all three phases of the team are important. Pittsburgh weather they will admit it or not have really been playing out the string for this season. They finally had any hope erased last week and resulted in a big egg. This game could really go either way as either team could come out uninterested and then for sure will not win. Cincy seems like they could have the heart to hang one more solid effort for the home fans, but it is just as likely they will have started the Postseason last week and Willie Parker could run wild on an uninterested defense. Playing the stripes in the remote chance that they would be interested, but can see Pitt just rolling them if not.

Seattle sure is fortunate that they are in the NFC. Even more fortunate that they are in the NFC West. Seattle wrapped up that division by losing last week, has such room to spare, that they don't even have to show up for this game and can start resting for the playoffs. They should do the honorable thing and forfeit this game. Tampa was a team many of us thought should forfeit the rest of the season, but a funny thing happened when they went to their third team QB Tim Rattay. They lit up the bears, and started winning by beating Cleveland last week. The Bucs are always tough at home, and wouldn't it be something for their fans to see them roll a playoff team in the last game of the season. I can't see that happening though despite how sorry the Seattle defense has been. Holmgren will want his men getting something positive going before the postseason. Tampa is a pretty good shot for the Hawks to get that.

St. Louis will lament the season that could have been, after a strong start. Yet they still managed to save a slimmer of hope that if they win this game could still have a shot for the postseason. Minnesota seemed to send it in a couple weeks ago, and now look like a preseason team trying out guys for next year. Rookie QB Tavaris Jackson gives the Vikes some hope for the future, and should cause all kinds of trouble for the St. Louis Defense. The St. Louis offense has really played well when they can run the ball like they did last week. Minnesota though is still stuffing the run pretty good. Which gives me all the impetus I need to snag Minny and the points at home this week.

The Cardinals at the Chargers. Fortunately for Arizona, San Diego has everything all wrapped up and nothing much left to play for in this one. Arizona is used to playing like that, as they haven't had anything to play for for weeks. Still despite some late season success the Cards lost improving rookie QB Matt Lienart last week, and will turn back to Kurt Warner in this one. Against the sack happy Charger defense even with nothing to play for will still see pro bowlers like Shawne Merriman padding their stats.

This game is huge for the Broncos who get in with a win. They are fantastic up in Denver late in the season especially. QB Jay Cutler came alive with a huge game in what was a playoff type scenario against Cincinnati last week. San Fran really has nothing left to play for. They were swept by the Arizona Cards with Kurt Warner back at the helm last week. Any possible poise may be diluted Denver this week. What with the Broncs with it all on the line, and the Niners playing out the string… I mean there is only one way to play this one right? Nope. One last game for the NFL Edge this season and just like last week the whole holiday spirit has me feeling very generous. Thanks to all you fans who stopped by and supported us here and throughout the years. I wish you all a happy 2007 and hope to see you back for the Arena League. Don't look now but as if the league scripted it like this, this rivalry game has huge implications once again. Sure the Bears have everything all wrapped up and are just tuning up for the second round of the playoffs. However by means of a watered down NFC the Packers are still fighting for a possible playoff spot. What would the Bears like more than anything? To send the Pack back home, and erase Brett Farve from any possible playoff upset scenarios. Problem is Farve knows this is one more shot to stick it to the Bears but good. The Pack have covered in 6 of the last 7 in Chi-town. Playoffs or not you know Farve wants to go out slinging, and what better way to do that than to spoil it for Chicago.
