I am a little tired of this whole New England is the best team in Football talk - maybe they are - but I am tired of it already - so I would love to grab Buffalo in the upset. Seattle +2.5 at San Francisco -2.5In an interesting turn of events Mike Holmgren and his Seahawks come calling on a San Fran team playing out the string. Seattle desperately needing a road win to keep alive a chance for the post season. The Hawks weren't intimidated last time out in St Louis and wont be intimidated this time either. The Niners may be playing out the string, but shown the league that they haven't quit yet beating Philly in Philly last week with a title on the line for Philly. San Fran would be a dangerous dog here and rightly should be favored(there is no line as of this writing - except my guess in parens), but without their main man WR Terrell Owens out with an injury, the desperate Hawks, will finally get that elusive road W, but will it be enough to get them to the postseason?
Philadelphia -7.5 at Washington +7.5OK we can end all this talk of Philly not winning the Eastern division title right now. Sure they slipped up against a very lively Niner team. Sure Washington did cover their last time out and proved they arent just playing out the string. Philly has something to play for still and that sting from last weeks OT loss will not allow them to relax this week. Much to the Redskins fans dismay. Bucs Sunday, Dec. 28Chicago +10.5 at Kansas City -10.5Da Bears, come into KC eyeballing an 8-8 finish to a season that started abysmally. Instead its KC who looks pretty shaken heading into the playoffs. They shown everyone they couldn't stop the run last week, but giving up 45 points they looked like they couldn't stop anything. The Bears will definitely test that suspect defense with A-train back and running behind that O-line. The Bears will try and grind it out on them. Realistically though a Rook QB like Rex Grossman, in his first road start in Arrowhead, even if he had Jim Brown in his prime behind him to hand the ball to, would have trouble beating the Chiefs there this week. Cleveland +7.5 at Cincinnati -7.5The season finale of the Ohio Rivalry! The Browns are pretty much playing out the string. While Cincy still has playoff hopes dancing in their heads. Cleveland could salvage their season by spoiling Cincys. Lets call this game the parody bowl shall we. I know its hard in this MTV generation of instant gratification, but recall back last year when the roles were reversed and Cleveland snuck into the playoffs on a victory in the last weekend (with a barrage of other happenings). Butch Davis was being hailed as a bright young coach. What difference a year makes. Now Cincy is the one playing that last week and hoping for outside help. They will do their part as Cleveland cant even slow a good running game down, let alone stop it. Dallas -1.5 at New Orleans +1.5The Cowpokes wrapped up a playoff spot and with some help from San Fran are eyeing the NFC East crown. New Orleans eliminated themselves with a lackluster effort in Jacksonville. Despite the ridiculous play at the end - they blew the extra point and any post season hopes. How will they get up for this game? They wont, and the Cowboys will light them up. They wont be pulling Cell phones out this week, especially since Joe Horn dislocated his shoulder. Let that be an importance Karmic lesson to you youngsters, when you try and show someone up - sure it seems funny at the time - but it WILL come back to you later someway. Watch Roy Williams pull out a phony Arm Sling after he dislodges some body part from someone. See what I mean? Indianapolis -6.5 at Houston +6.5The Colts still have a shot at home field and definitely don't want to slip down to a 3 seed or even a wildcard. So they will definitely show up this week. Houston wont give an inch to anyone. Contesting every yard and every point with a respectable defensive unit. It wont be enough against a determined Colt team - but those Texans, from their efforts throughout this season have finally earned some respect.
Jacksonville +3.5 at Atlanta -3.5Well I was one week too early looking for that Micheal (Vick) Magic! I knew he had a big upset in him, as they are a completely different team with him at the helm, I just called it one week too soon. It will be a taller task this time as they tangle with Mr Leftwich and his Jags. The Jags are hot featuring one of the best run defenses in the league. They will need all of that to contain Mr. Vick, and some big plays from the "other" QB in this game. That might be too much to ask from a young team on the road like that - but I gotta go with the team that has been good to me - at least with the points - just one more time!

Basketball is fun, but it just doesn't cut it for me. I'm a certified college football nut. They will always get snubbed by the big dawgs, but wins in the games that they do get invited to will go a long way towards building credibility with the BCS. BG is just the better team here.

Both defenses are suspect, but the Doc is going to go with the team that's thrilled to be there (Cal) over the team that had higher hopes (VTech) for it's season.

Continental Tire Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES In probably the last game for super Wideout Larry Fitzgerald, Pitt will need to play much better defense than they have been in order to beat Virginia. Doc likes the Cavaliers in this one - better overall team speed and a better running game will lead them to victory.

Alamo Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES The Sparty's are really playing solid ball under new coach John L. Smith. That guy's a keeper. The Huskers just aren't up for this one. They are in shambles after the firing of coach Frank Solich and the threat of the players to boycott the bowl game if interim coach Bo Pelini was not named head coach. He wasn't, and Nebraska will be beaten by a more focused team.

EV1.Net Houston Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES The Doc loves Navy. They do things the right way. If you've never watched them play, treat yourself. The preciseness of their option attack is something to see. Craig Candetto is a great competitor. Unfortunately, Tech will be too fast for Navy, and QB BJ Symons should really light it up with his arm.
Holiday Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES This one will be great to watch because of Texas' freshman phenom QB Vince Young. This guy can run with the best of em, and he's got a lively arm as well. Doc likes the Longhorns in this one, but never count out a well coached, veteran Washington State squad.
Silicon Valley Football Classic GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES I put UCLA "at" Fresno for this one, cause it's a home game for the Bulldogs. Coach Pat Hill is a great offensive mind, but he's never beaten UCLA in six tries. Doc is saying that he'll get his first one in this "classic". UCLA has not yet found an offense, and will struggle to keep up with Fresno even though they have better talent. In this case, it's the coaching.

Music City Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES This is a must-see for fans of grind-it-out, smashmouth ball. Wisconsin's Anthony Davis and Auburn's Carnell Williams will try to one-up each other, while two solid defenses will try to keep their numbers down. Auburn has let the Doc down more than a few times this season, so it's time for a different approach. Take the Badgers in this one because they have more balance and a better coach.
Wells Fargo Sun Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES The Doc really enjoys watching this Minnesota team. When they are on, their offense is as good as any. Marion Barber III and Laurnece Maroney are great tailbacks, but will face an Oregon defense that is tough against the run. Although this team has faced the injury bug, Doc is calling for Oregon to step up and beat another Big Ten opponent.

N.Y. Jets +3.5 at Miami -3.5Might be a good thing for Miami that they have nothing left to play for! They never seem to come through this time of year with something on the line. Like I said a few weeks ago I like the heart on this Miami team. They need help elsewhere but heart they have. Is that an overrated defense they have, yeah maybe, sure looked good in stuffing the Buffalos, but the Jets always give them trouble. Pennington had an off day last week, and likely wont throw 4 picks again, so that's more reason to like the Jets here in this one. Miami should take this one though as the pressure is off and there is nothing to play for this time. It will be a building block for next year, as would getting rid of Wannstedt. THE NFL EDGE Features THE LIVE NFL BETTING LINES Through our partners at St. Louis -10.5 at Detroit +10.5Ho-hum, a playoff tune up for St Louis! They should probably not even play this one as its just a formality. How is Detroit going to even slow down St Louis, let alone win. Yeah Detroit is home and all that - so what - turf, dome, it will be just like home for the Rams who will be all over Detroit. Maybe a little too much so, though. Philly plays on Saturday and should they lose and Rams lock up home field you may see the Rams J.V. team in this one, just something to think about if you are taking this one and laying big points. I would wait and make sure that the Rams will even show up first. If they do they will tear up Detroit, but motivation this time of year is hard to gage. Tampa Bay +6.5 at Tennessee -6.5The Battered Bucs go into Tenny. Tennessee is still gunning for a home playoff game and a possible Division title. Motivation should not be a problem as the Colts, whom they are in a race with, also play at 1 so the Titans probably wont be sending out the reserves (ahh, but beware the dreaded scoreboard watching!). The words coming out of Tampa after that thrashing by Atlanta don't sound too good! Its almost like a mutiny on that pirate ship - complaining about the last onside attempt in that game - thinking that caused them to miss the playoffs. How about 8 losses?? Giants +5.5Are the Giants still playing football??! Seems to me like they pretty much stopped doing that several months ago. Never mind playing out the string - the G-men are dangling from it. We know Fassell is gone, but his old Defensive Co-ordinator John Fox brings his Southern Division Champions back into the Stadium where he used to toil. With the Division wrapped up and the Home field out of the realm of possibility - there is that slight danger that Carolina could have a let down. Don't worry if they rest the starters, the back ups will be on even par with the Giants back ups who have been starting now for the last several contests. Although to be honest the Giants are one of the hottest teams in football, that's right the Giants are one of the best bets in the league. Just bet against them!! Its been easy money now for 7 weeks, why buck a trend like that!?! Minnesota -7.5 at Arizona +7.5Another Great team to bet on! No not the Vikings silly, Arizona! Sure, just pick against the Cardinals. Yeah they may have covered like 5 times this year... But they lose with far more regularity. Featuring a paper thin defense the Cards are prone to massive blowouts. How could you NOT love a team like that? They would be lucky if ANY fans showed up this week. Guaranteed there will be more purple in the stands than red this week. I know all about the Vikings struggles on the road this season, but it would be hardly fair to call this a road game for them since they will have more fans of the 200 or so who actually show up. Minnesota should win this one on easily - if not Arizona will find a way to lose it. People wonder why Arizona's Anquan Bolden had such a great year? Easy when you are down by 20 in every game, you got to throw on like every play. They will have plenty of opportunity again this week. Denver +6.5 at Green Bay -6.5Got to hand it to the old guy Brett Farve! Not only did he go out and play - it looked like his best game all year. Boy did I miss the boat on that one! Denver already punched its ticket to the postseason now Green Bay is trying to. If Brett has anything to say about it Green Bay will get there. Don't count these guys out as long as that guy is at the helm, even more so at Lambeau - and the time of year when the Tundra gets frozen. Most notably ought to be Bill Callahan. Bill shouldn't really fret though - there will be many good College openings and look at what Pete Carroll did in the college game. I think Bill may be better suited to working with the younger more impressionable sort. Not really the collection of misfits that Al Davis likes to gather. San Diego is also putting an end to another unimpressive campaign. There is hope though for both these two teams as someone should be able to win this game, unless it ends in a tie. Pittsburgh +7.5 at Baltimore -7.5In the spirit of the Holiday even the Greek is in the mood for giving. I wont make you wait all week to see who I am taking in this one. Considering its not even a Monday night game - why should I?? I like Baltimore in this game, they are home, they are better defensively, and Pittsburgh has been very inconsistent this season. I think I would like to take Pittsburgh with the points in the upset, but I wont because, I think that Baltimore will win. How ya like that for creativity? Bottom line is this at this point in the season - I am really tired of writing these little synapses. I have no idea what is going to transpire in this game or any other - except the Giants I know they will lose - I AM JUST REAALLLY GLAD ITS OVER!! YEEHAW!

AXA Liberty Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES This one should be a defensive struggle, with both teams trying to win it late. Probably a yawner, but will be competitive. Urban Meyer is a great coach, but Doc is taking Southern Miss in this one because thier d is better.
Independence Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Missouri QB Brad Smith is a stud, and should have a good game in Shrevport. Matt Jones, his counterpart, is another tough guy and great leader. This one is tough, but for those of us that have really been paying attention it is obvious that Arkansas will win this game because of senior leadership and better overall skill position talent. Two great coaches here - should be fun to watch.
San Francisco Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Sonny Lubick is a great coach, and Bradlee Van Pelt is a winner. That being said, BC always seems to step up during Bowl season. BC hasn't been too impressive this season, but they have played a tougher schedule than the Rams who never get to be on national tv. Doc is going with his East Coast bias on this one.

Outback Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Iowa can look so good at times, but hasn't found a way to be consistant this year. Florida is just very, very young. They will be a force in the next few years - there is just too much talent there to keep them from getting back to the top. For this matchup, Doc is gonna go with the Hawkeyes, however. Yeah, they got slapped down last year about this time with a better team, but I just am not ready to put my faith in freshman QB Chris Leake. If the Hawkeyes pressure him, he'll struggle.
GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Maryland torched West Virginia at the beginning of the season. However, West Virginia has been reborn since then and will be much tougher this time around. Terp RB Bruce Perry is healthy, and that is a bad sign for West Virginia. He is the real deal, but prone to injuries. Doc is taking Maryland because of Perry and because they are a team that knows how to finish.
Capital One Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Georgia fell out of the running for a national championship due to a mess of injuries. A win here will take the bad taste out of their mouths, but it won't be easy. This Purdue team is talented and experienced, but not quite up to the level of the Dawgs.
GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES This should be a classic. The Rose Bowl is more fun with USC in it, even if they did get screwed by the BCS. The press wants to call this strength vs speed, Midwest ball vs West coast ball. Well, that's mostly true. However, this is not your father's plodding Michigan team. They have burners, too. They have a great offensive line and a veteran QB. USC seems to toy with their opponents, but they will not be able to do that here. They will be in a game, and once they realize that the playing field is level, they will see what they are made of. Doc thinks Michigan already knows how to win this type of game, and I'm giving the nod to the big uglies from Ann Arbor.
Orange Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Another rematch game. This one will be great for the fans down in Florida, but the Doc doesn't like it. Nobody asked me, however. Miami really seemed to be a different team after they got beat. Still, they did beat Florida State before and will bring their A game for this one. Tough call, but Doc is taking the Canes here. Miami can be beat with a punishing running game, but the Noles often get away from the run. That mistake will cost them here.

Cotton Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES The Eli Manning show will make a late season appearance in Dallas. As impossible as it seems, Doc is calling for him to be overshadowed by State WR Rashaun Woods. He should feast on the Ole Miss defense, which is not exactly the Steel Curtain. Manning is great, but Ok State is a tougher team and will win this one barring any Manning Miracles.
Peach Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES QB Charlie Whitehurst has led Clemson out of an early season funk, and has really been lighting it up. Tennessee presents a big test, but the Doc thinks the Tigers will pass this one. The Vols have slipped a bit, and are ripe for an upset.
Fiesta Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Ohio State will be back in Tempe, where they won the BCS National Championship game last season. Doc just doesn't think this team is the same without Mo Clarett. Michigan exposed them for what they are: a solid, tough team that lacks real offensive firepower. K State is hungry for respect, and should get it here.

Humanitarian Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES Why is this game being played so late? Holy anticlimax, Batman! Anyhow, Doc digs this Tech team and sees no reason why they can't spank Tulsa.

Sugar Bowl GET THE LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING LINES For the Mythical National Championship. Whatever. Ya'll know the truth - this one will be hotly debated for years to come. Good for us. Can Oklahoma bounce back from the beating they took in the Big 12 championship? If Nick Saban wins this one, he'll be crowned the new "best coach in the land" over Stoops. Doc is putting his money on the Sooners here. They will come up big for the real "best coach in the land".
