Thursday, Nov. 27Green Bay -6.5 at Detroit +6.5Detroit is showcased as this years Thanksgiving day lead off game. Traditionally the Lions have been pretty good at home on Thanksgiving. With the whole country watching this would be a great time for Mariucci to earn tons of respect, and QB Joey Harrington to have a break out game. As the underdog Lions have done Thanksgivings past! Then again this is a pretty good Green Bay team, which is actually in a tight race for the NFC North division. A national game too, which means the Pack couldn't possibly underestimate the Lions. Farve doesn't play well in domes, and the points make Detroit pretty inviting. Thinking about it though, lets say it does get into the 4th qtr, and it's a real close game, 2 minutes left. My money goes on the man who has proven he can get it done in those situations, not the kid who still needs to show me, and everyone - might this be the passing of the torch... nah. Miami +3.5 at Dallas -3.5Crack in their Armor?? Who said that??? Well whomever did The Cowboys respectfully disagree. Parcells is the master, throwing the option play at Carolina last week, and hanging on to the top spot in the East as well as the whole NFC. Got to hand it to the man. Miami on the other hand comes into this game with a solid record, yet all the talk still in Florida is how DISAPPOINTING the Dolphins have been? Hey winning ugly is still winning in my book. Even though Jay Fiedler is a pretty ugly QB and doesn't play real "pretty" he does win lots of games. Games like this, "heavyweight" match ups, Miami shows up to play - as long as the weather doesn't get that cold. Then again last time there was a Thanksgiving day game in Dallas and it snowed, Miami won. Will they be wearing orange for this one?? Arizona also gets Emmett Smith back possibly for this one. Now before we quickly dismiss Arizona they have been playing decent ball, and covered their last time out. Despite the grizzly beginning to this season the bears have turned it around and are themselves playing good ball lately too. A great sleeper throughout most of this season they finally get to wear the respect of a favorite. Can they "texan-up" and win this game. Sure is possible. Atlanta might be the worst team in the league sure. Vick is not back yet, and they just lost leading rusher Warrick Dunn to the IR. So why take them. Because despite getting beaten again last week, they are playing improved ball, having lead most of the Tennessee game.
They do have the capability of playing solid defense. Houston has some nice offense but are they good enough to go out and win this game. Probably, still despite the long odds, I like the Falcons to have one of their biggest defensive efforts, lots of RB TJ Duckett, some good breaks, and come home with the upset victory. Buffalo +2.5 at N.Y. Giants -2.5The Bills visit the Gmen in a battle between similar disappointing teams. Both had high hopes for this season, and both see their season all but over. It will be interesting to note which team comes out and plays harder. The Bills have had trouble moving the ball, and could have trouble again in NY. While the Giants have moved the ball but have trouble scoring. This one is all about coaching though, as the better coach will keep his team focused on this one game and not dwelling on the records. Fassell and the Giants have a way of rising up this time of year, throw in that the burden of being in the playoff race has been lifted, and the Giants can get back to playing decent football.
Cincinnati +2.5 at Pittsburgh -2.5The Bengals, like it or not are one of - if not THE hottest team in the NFL right now. They just got through spanking San Diego and staying on top in the AFC North division. The Steelers come in behind Cincy, in the standings, but feeling they are the better team. This is actually a tough game to call as the Cincy really has been playing very well. Pittsburgh has shown that they are vulnerable. Despite the improved play of Cincy, and its led by their defense, they are still young. Pittsburgh might not be lighting it up, but they are still scoring. Maddox will find some holes in the Cincy secondary. The maligned Pittsburgh defense will contain Kitna and the surprising Bengals will get a dose of the "any given Sunday blues" Minnesota +5.5 at St. Louis -5.5The Vikings come into St Louis off a big victory at home over a game Detroit team. The Rams struggled at home with Arizona last week and let them climb back into the game and needed overtime to pull it out. The Vikes will no doubt test the St Louis defense. I really think that St Louis has a very good defensive team and will find answers to the Vikes attack. Offensively they can and will exploit some things as Marshall Faulk is getting more reps with the team and should make some things happen. The only edge I like is Mike Tice over Mike Martz. Martz has more talent on Defense but is a buffoon at times. Tice deserves to win this game -- which is why Martzes guys will. New England +4.5 at Indianapolis -4.5Big time match up of two big time AFC Powers! This is a huge game for both teams but ultimately I think this particular game means more to Indy. They really think that this game will be a huge factor in their postseason hopes, and will play like it's a big pressure game. New Eng. Is looking at this game as a huge test - but they will be business as usual - yet even if they come up short they know that there is still much more football to be played. The Pats have been there, they will be more relaxed they know this game DON'T meant the super bowl or not. The Colts will feel the pressure, when Brady and the Opportunistic Pats will come out firing - how will they respond? This round will go to the home team, but this wont be the last we hear from these two...

Philadelphia at Carolina ETough loss for Carolina last week! It gets no easier for them this week hosting Philly. Philly is good, kinda sneaky good. Like you don't realize that they are good, but they just win. Since starting 0-2 they have since won 8 of 9 - pretty solid. Carolina comes home after a rare loss this season. They will respond with a huge effort at home and feel pretty good about themselves. Up until the last minutes when McNabb and company find another improbable way to pull out a victory. Don't be discouraged Panther fans though - your team IS for real - just a minor setback. THE NFL EDGE Features THE LIVE NFL BETTING LINES Through our partners at San Francisco +2.5 at Baltimore -2.5The 49ers come east to visit Baltimore. Normally I would like SF in this match up. They have an improving defense and offensively they can score big points. However that was such an impressive comeback victory for the Ravers last week that its hard for me to go against them and all the momentum generated by that win. That was the kind of win that can propel a franchise on to amazing things. I for one was all primed to take SF and the points for big money -- but again a big win like that I am going to turn around and try and ride that momentum with a Ravens and see where that goes. They aint that good, but don't tell them that - they already have one Superbowl trophy from another team that "wasn't so good" - lets see where this team winds up. Yeah they are still in first. New Orleans +2.5 at Washington -2.5A very tough game to figure here. Washington is solidly inconsistent. Like they show flashes of turning the corner, of being good. Then they get creamed. They look bad then they put together a really solid effort. Speaking of solid effort the Skins have covered in both their previous losses. So they have been pretty good to the gamblers. New Orleans has not. They play, in all likelihood, without Duce McAllister this week. Still Aaron Brooks can make things happen. As I think the skins should win this game. The Seahawks come home after a disastrous loss in Baltimore. A loss in a game that they had a huge lead in. It will be interesting to see how they respond. Cleveland has gone through similar peril getting smeared in KC then coming home to forge a huge victory over Arizona. They were punished by Pittsburgh last week and have reverted to struggling offensively. Not a good thing when they visit Seattle who will be out to ensure that they don't squander any big leads this week and keep trying to score well after they score more points than Cleveland can muster in say its next two games. Denver -3.5 at Oakland +3.5The Broncos travel west to Oakland! Rematch of their earlier season Monday night massacre that was all Broncos. Denver dismantled Oakland making it look easy. That was also the game where the Raiders lost starting QB Rich Gannon. So how will the Raiders ever hang around this game. Well for one they are running the ball solidly now. Rick Mirer - has been giving them decent play from the QB slot and never discount the home field advantage. Sure Denver should win this game easily and would have to, to be considered playoff material. They don't call these rivalries - rivalries because there is no rivalry right?? They remember those earlier games and have something special planned for the reunion. Kansas City -6.5 at San Diego +6.5Now being that the Chiefs have already had their Loss. And they had their rebound game back home - which they failed to cover. People are starting to suspect the redguys. Big Mistake! Even with a big divisional lead, that loss two weeks ago, and the subsequent scare in Oakland will have KC breathing fire for this one. San Diego is just playing out the string, and will no doubt play hard at home, but realistically they don't stand a chance. Although I am not so sure they did so much to win that game as the Giants didn't take advantage enough to steal it. In comes quietly this seasons best kept secret - although not really to the gambling community - The Jacksonville Jags. All they have been doing is beating point spreads for several weeks running now. The Jags are a team on the rise and have been giving everyone troubles. I am not so sold on Tampa as having kicked what ails them yet, and am going on a big limb here throwing out this weeks "madmans" upset special! The Titans it seems every week it's the same old thing, QB Steve McNair has an injury question, they say he may not play. Then he goes out limping and bandaged and scrambles for a crucial late first down and throws for 300 yards. The Jets have a similar winning playmaker in Chad Pennington. Since his return from injury the Jets have been very respectable. On paper this looks pretty clear cut, Titans all the way. What with injuries and all if McNair goes out of the game that would change things some huh? Like everyone else I like the obvious pick, Titans here though every hack out there is saying the same thing - Which of course makes me very leery of taking them - but can I realistically put it on the Jets... Nah, I see Steve McNair limping his way to the horse trailer.
