Doc is still scratching his head, trying to figure out how Tennessee could be beaten so thoroughly at home last week by the Gators. Just goes to show how amazing the teams from Florida really are. Then think about what Miami did to the Gators two weeks ago. Can anyone touch this year's Miami team? They can only beat themselves... OK, on to this week's games. Conference play is officially underway, so the Doc is sticking to some good backyard brawls this week:
Oregon State +2.5 at USC -2.5GET ACTION ON THIS GAME NOW - CLICK HERE The Beavers look like they are back to their 2000 form, led by the hard running of Derek Anderson. USC is looking to bounce back from a tough road loss last week. One which QB Carson Palmer nearly rallied the Trojans back in. No, they aren't THAT bad, but the vaunted Husker D has some big holes this year. They have just put too much pressure on Nebraska's O, which really isn't a come from behind type of deal. The Doc has been on the Sennaca Wallace bandwagon from the get go, so I'm sticking with him for this one. He will riddle the Nebraska Defense - and lead a Huge win for the Cyclones. Sunday, Sep. 29New Orleans -7.5 at Detroit +7.5A vicious battle in Motown! The Saints come cruising in at 3-0 very confident after smoking the Bears in thier backyard. Those of us that tend to put a little green on the games know that Detroit was a 'winner' last week and here vegas has set them up with another TD-plus, at home again. Everyone liked Joey Harrington starting. Thinking that Detroit at home again is looking good with those points... DONT DO IT, its a sucker bet. N.O. is playing outstanding right now, they will harass and administer a beating to little 'Joey' and his Lions. Aaron Brooks might be the best QB in the NFL right now the Saints will shred the Detroit Defense and all those who are tempted by the 7.5!! ************************************* N.Y. Jets +2.5 at Jacksonville -2.5The Jets were smacked by the pats, then roughed up and banged up in Miami. Thier Defense were all standing around with hands on thier hips in the fourth quarter sucking wind, and you all saw how the Phins Ricky Williams broke the long one in the end. They were physically beaten, and now they journey just up North to Jacksonville. The heat and humidity will be just as brutal this week for the Jets as they chase around Mark Brunell and Fred Taylor and company. Its just too much of a task to expect anything else this week for the Jets. ************************************* N.Y. Giants -2.5 at Arizona +2.5Just as we told you last week here the Giants came out very flat against the Seahawks. They did. We also told you how Arizona would scrap thier way to first place(?) by upsetting the 'unbeaten' Chargers. Despite crys from OUR FORUM trying to warn us, we still stuck with the Cards. Alas Jake Plummer gave that game away throwing two passes to San Diego Linebackers. Though I think that Arizona is still a fairly wily team and will author several upsets yet this year. The Giants will either respond to thier wake up call and go out and win this game, or maybe the Cards will find some way to give it to them. Much to the delight of those Giants fans making the trip to this game who will likely be outnubering and rowdier than the Cardnal fans. Over/Under Line on Attendance is 30,000. ************************************* Tampa Bay -6.5 at Cincinnati +6.5This might be another one of those letdown games for the Bucs coming off thier big win to the Rams. Throw in the Wild card of QB Akili Smith making his first start of the season. Even the listless Bengals might find a way to make this game interesting. I know, the Bengals??? Well last week we pointed out Detroit would cover against Green Bay. What am I saying, is if there is an UPSET this MIGHT be one of those, I still cant find myself taking the Bengals, but I dont know that I will be picking the Bucs -7 on my parlay cards at VIP SPORTS ************************************* New England -2.5 at San Diego +2.5One of the more intreguing games of the day. The Chargers, summarily dismissed in the preseason, and virtually ignored as they are now 3-0 and atop the AFC west. But wait we've seen this before -- last year. Then suddenly they lost about eight in a row, while thats not possible this week. New England will certainly try to start them on a streak like that, the rest is up to San Diego. ************************************* Tennessee +6.5 at Oakland -6.5Oh those Tennessee Titans. Giving up a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter and losing to the Browns. After getting beat in Dallas the week before. They definately miss Jevon Kearse, and with questions about McNair and George last week I can only assume that they are not just getting beat, but beat up. So here they go out west to challenge those big black (clad) bullies. Otherwise known as the RRRRAAAYYYYYYDDDDEEEERRRRZZZZZZZZ ************************************* Minnesota +2.5 at Seattle -2.5A heck of a primetime match between these two perfect records. Perfect losers that is. I think that I have seen enough of the Vikings crybaby Randy Moss, who is obviously as soft as his 75 million dollar contract has made him. More so he is as devisive as he is soft in the locker room. Seattle with all thier woes, still has a little bit of Defense - they will have to come up big here, but they may only need do so for a half. If the Hawks have any kind of lead at halftime they may not have to worry about the Vikings coming out for the second half, they could pull out guns shoot each other at the half. **UPDATE : I WROTE THIS BEFORE MOSS GOT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT** Sometimes things like this can be completely crazy and you cold see the team and the player really rally and have a huge game, or the distraction is just too huge to stay focused. They'll really hit you. Iowa brings it's own physical team to town - they are fifth in the nation running the ball. This one will be tougher than most think for Penn State. Michigan -7.5 at Illinois +7.5GET ACTION ON THIS GAME NOW - CLICK HERE The Illini have lost some tough games this season, but they have a dynamic offense that can score on anyone - even Michigan's solid D. The Wolverines really haven't come out of their shell offensively yet, and I don't think this will be the week that they do. Iliinois has too many good athletes on Defense. The D has really been carrying this team so far, but I think they finally break against the Illini's dynamic offensive system. I'm picking Illinois in the upset *************************************
