Sunday, Dec. 22N.Y. Giants +5.5 at Indianapolis -5.5Suddenly this game is of huge importance to both conferences playoff implications. The Giants are in a desperation mode and need lots of miracles - who knows perhaps they are due some fortune as payback for the 70s. The Colts didnt really have that miracle a few years ago when they were playing in the AFC Championship, but sure had it back in 1956... Alan Amachee takes the handoff from Manning... ************************************* San Diego at Kansas City NLThe Chiefs may be the best last place team in the NFL. Of course this is no surprise to me, I was just a season early betting them repeatedly and losing last year. The real surprise is why I havent bet them more this year. I know about this week without Priest Holmes, but San Diego still has Tomlinson they may have undermined Brees by getting Flutie involved last week. Trent Green has no such issues at home. ************************************* Tennessee -3.5 at Jacksonville +3.5Tennesse looked real good on Monday night, which of course is more the reason to stay away from them in a trap game against a lively Jags team which still has some fight left in them. Brunell, Smith and Taylor are all still healthy and it teams like this (as we saw last week) who have nothing to lose that play looser and could cause a gambler big problems. ************************************* St. Louis at Seattle ESt Louis resumed its offensive ways getting Marc Bulger back at QB last week and putting up 30 points. They did sort of allow Arizona to put up 28 on them though. Seattle has been putting up all kinds of offensive numbers lately and been playing with Great confidence. But they are fairly accostomed to the role of spoiler, the Rams meanwhile are just spoiled and have all the symptoms of a team that has quit, especially reduced to a role few of these guys are accustomed to. Watch the tackling, or lack thereof, primarily in the second half. Keep this in mind as you are watching the Shaun Alexander highlights. ************************************* Cleveland +2.5 at Baltimore -2.5The Cardiac Clevelanders visit the No Quit Ravens, who dont seem to know they were in a rebuilding phase. For either team being alive in the playoff race until week 16 would be pretty good. The winner can keep those dreams alive the loser will have to finally face the facts. In a tight pressure situation like that, I like the Cardiac Kids to keep it going for one more week when everyone starts to write them off. ************************************* Denver +3.5 at Oakland -3.5Most people figured the AFC West would come down to this. Denver and Oakland. While they may have taken different routes - they lay it down one more time. The key to this game will be whether the Raiders have DB C. Woodson back. Without him Fiedler to Chambers looked like Marino to Duper. If he cant go and they have the same DBs out there from last week. Griese will look like his old man throwing one to Warfield. ************************************* N.Y. Jets +3.5 at New England -3.5Could this be, a meaningless game between the world champs and the hype champs. A game with almost no serious playoff implications. Yup, that might be what we have here. The Jets were absolutely demolished earlier this year by the Pats. There really is no reason that Brady couldnt tear this secondary up. Pennington however was not the starter in that earlier game. He will help the Jets. It will take a HUGE game from Pennington though as that Pats Defense will be furious from facing the beating they got on national TV in Tenn. ************************************* Monday, Dec. 23
