The upstart Texans had a very impressive win in Pitt last week. Upon further review they scored 3 TDs off returns - fumbles, ints. Not taking anything away from the Texans who have won 2 of their last 3 games because of that opportunistic defense, but you have to wonder where they would be without their opponents making big mistakes. Baltimore had a tough one last week, but overall have been suprisingly solid this year. If they dont make big mistakes offensively and keep getting the ball to RB Jamal Lewis they should win this game.

The fired up Panthers come into Pitt winners of two in a row, and off a record setting 52 point performance. Noramlly I never bet against an NFL team that put up 40 or more the previous week. Just a betting theorum I normally, fanatically go by. Last week neither of these two teams looked NORMAL though. Well, I would argue that Tommy Maddox did look normal, prior to what he had done this season. If Pitt does not get better play from Maddox this week the fans will start to cry out for Kordell Stewart again.

Indy had their little win streak snapped in Tenn, getting outplayed despite playing a fairly good game. Last week was another thrilling last minute win for the Browns. Just when they look down and out, and it looks hopeless these Cardiac Clevelanders pull it out. A Pitt loss and a Brownie win would put them in first. Can you believe that. I didnt think so.

Well this game is basically a couple of also rans, and while Jacksonville has a better team and more talent, hard to tell if they won't have "packed it in". Especially after that last minute demoralizing loss at home. The Bengals are no stranger to demoralizing losses, although they set new records for ineptitude even for them last week giving up 52. If nothing else this game might have lots of scoring and wild plays as they both seem to lack basic defensive skills - like tackling.

The Vikes Scrapped and clawed this year, and have played much better since QB Dante Culpepper was benched earlier this year. That basically woke him up. They have since gotten good play from him, but still have no defense to speak of. The Saints keep on piling on points even when QB Aaron Brooks went out with that gimpy shoulder in the second half of their game. While the injury concerns me, offensively won't be where the Saints win this game.

The Jets with QB Chad Pennington at the helm have been soaring. Starting to believe that this kid is for real yet?? The Bears are basically playing out the string, but they have been for several weeks now. It does not help them at all that they play on turf in Champagne. In fact if anything that will help the Jets who have some nice quick guys, like Moss, Morton, Coles, and Chrebet who should take advantage of the turf and the injury decimated Bears.

The Raiders are in a dogfight to make the playoffs, and so are the Dolphins this will be a playoff like game with huge implications for both teams. The Raiders are probably playing the best ball in the AFC right now, as their record suggests. I was not all that impressed by the wayFish QB Jay Fiedler was throwing the ball Monday night, and what was with those GOD AWFUL green on green uniforms. Someone needs to tell these players nowadays that the the dark shirts and pants are real pop-warner bush league. I hate to go against the Fish in the Aquarium, (maybe if they hadnt worn that awful combo) but its pretty tough to pass up the Raiders with points especially if it turns into a shootout.

The Chargers, despite the loss last week are a solid tough football team. They have not folded like some experts (ahem) predicted. Ladamian Tomlinson is a big time running back, and Drew Brees is as impressive as any young QB in the league. This game is in Buffalo in December though. For those of you who are living in a closet and dont know that is just one BRUTAL place to play when the weather is bad, and take it from me its bad there just about every 15 minutes. No one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills do at home, especailly against them sunny weather boys.

This game hardly seems like it will be intersting. Atlanta with super soph QB Micheal Vick at home against the struggling Seahawks. Despite solid play from Seattle QB Hasselbeck, they continue to struggle and cant seem to get a W. The Sea. defense is putrid and Vick should tear them up. If Seattle somehow pull it out this week, even with the 8.5 it will be a huge surprise, and will reek of "other forces", at least to anyone who thinks about such things.

Even during Tampas lean years they would always play fairly well up Detroit. Even when the Lions were winning games. Tampa is definately rolling winning their 10th game last week. Although they are in the drivers seat, Tampa is still in a dogfight. I mention that since the only way that Detroit could pull this upset is if Tampa takes this game too lightly or looks past the Lions. With Playoffs still hanging in the balance I doubt Gruden will let that happen.

Yeah the Eagles are in trouble, right, sure. Lose one All-star QB, no prob, lose the back-up, no worries, the third stringer is tossing TDs. Washington clearly does not have that luxury. In all likelihood Spurrier have another new starter for this game, as QB Patrick Ramsey came off the bench to spark the Skins to a couple of scores last week. The Eagles can clinch the NFC East title at home with a win this week and no Washington QB will be able to prevent that.

You see what I mean about not betting against a team that puts up over 40 points the previous week. Anyone who bet that last week would have taken K.C. last week and been a big easy winner. K.C. put up 40 again last week and if you believe that you would take them again this week. Denver may be one heck of a good team and at home are even better, but are they done? Will the loss to the Jets demorilze them so much that they come out flat. If they do that, it will further the theory of never beting against a team that puts up 40.

Despite losing last week the Cowboys played an awful tough game. The Giants have bascially dominated their last couple of games early and in both games let big leads slide away in the fourth qtr. They managed to hold off the Skins last week, but nonetheless looked flat in the fourth. If they play like that again this week, it will be just like old times for Emmett who always has big games in NY.

This will be a very interesting game. Interesting only in how these two will approach this game. Lets see both of these two have clinched their respective divisions and subsequent playoff spots. Both are vying for a 1st round bye, but are both on the outside looking in on that. So with the possibility that they will be meeting again later when it really counts, and with both of these two already in, I wonder how they will approach this game. I know one guy who always approaches every game the same is Brett Farve. I like that guy even more with points!

This game is so huge, it just had to be on prime time. What kind of odds would I have gotten in the preseason, saying that these two would have the same record for this game. While the record is a disappointment to Ram fans. If there really are any Cardnal fans they really cant feel too bad about 5 wins. Ram fans have to wonder what happened this year, but a date with the Cards should help them out. The Cards should be happy that no matter what happens they wont be in the cellar, yet.

New England +1.5 at Tennessee -1.5

This will certainly be an exciting monday nighter with huge playoff implications. With the week I had I have to be right!! SO this is another slam dunk no brainer. I love the Titans at home. Eddie George has the running game going, and Steve McNair just finds ways to win. The Tenn secondary scrutinzed early has responded and kept Tenn in the Game. Hard to shy away from Tom Brady with points - a huge winning formula for me over the past two seasons, and it pains me to go against it, however my wallet is hurting from most of what I thought were sound bets this week too.
