| Exclusively on The NFL EDGE As the NCAA Season winds down, only fitting that during Thanksgiving week we are treated to some of the most exciting games of the season. Hope that you still have some room on your plate for these gems.
Colorado -1.5 at Nebraska +1.5GET ACTION ON THIS GAME NOW - CLICK HERE These two programs renew a great rivalry. Nebraska has owned this series in recent years, especially when they play in Lincoln. But this isn't your typical Nebraska team. The Doc cant remember back when "the blackshirts" were pushed around like they have been at times this year. Colorado knows all too well that even in down years the Huskers have lots of Pride especially when they pack 'em in and make the stadium the largest city in Nebraska. The Buffalos have a dynamic running game featuring Heisman candidate RB Chris Brown, and when they spell him they can bring in Bobby Purify or Marcus Houston. All this makes QB Robert Hodge's job much easier. The Cuse have normally been the one team who could match up with the Hurricanes speed. However this is also a down year for the Orange. Though the Cuse have been playing better lately and could always come up with a huge game in front of the Home Dome fans, like a few weeks ago when they upset Va. Tech there. This is not the Hokies though these are the Canes, and they were locked in a dogfight at home last week. The Canes can smell the Fiesta Bowl and Dorsey and McGahee are looking to impress the Heisman voters no matter what they will say publicly. The Doc also knows that Orange really have been struggling defensively. Sunday, Dec. 1Miami at Buffalo EAfter blasting the Fish down in the Aquarium, the Fish swim up north to get their first taste of playing in the cold this year. Miami is typically completely different team come December and usually begin their hibernation this time of year. That was before Rickey Williams though. They seem to have settled in behind QB Ray Lucas and have revenge on their mind. ************************************* Pittsburgh -3.5 at Jacksonville +3.5Pitt could be getting Tommy Maddox back for this game, and they still managed to win behind Kordell last week too. The bad news is the way the Bengals were able to move the ball on them, especially at the end. Jacks has bounced back from every loss this year with a solid effort their next time out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them do that again this week. But as for my money, Im betting Pitt is riding the Bus this week all over the Jags D, keeping Brunell and Co. off the field and the scoreboard. ************************************* Tennessee +2.5 at N.Y. Giants -2.5Both these two come off big disappointing losses when they could have made a big move in solidifying potential playoff spots. The difference here is that NY struggles stopping the run. If they couldn’t stop Houston’s running game – how are they going to stop Eddie George. ************************************* Denver -3.5 at San Diego +3.5The Bolts looked really bad last week foiling my upset special in the one week where just about every other dog jumped up and bit me! Denver looked inconsistent in a game that had everything going for them. Sure I know about Shanahan vs. Shottenheimer stats. I have been impressed by Drew Brees this year though, and the resilient Chargers just won’t fade away. ************************************* Houston +10.5 at Indianapolis -10.5So is Houston legit? In addition to their monthly win, they have now covered 3 in a row! Burning my wallet in the process. The Colts should also be feeling good after that huge road win Sunday night. That’s what three wins in a row for the Colts, without the help of the spread. Lets make that 4. ************************************* Seattle +9.5 at San Francisco -9.5Holmgren returns to play the Niners. The Seahawks shown signs of life last week scoring 39. That was against that generous KC defense though. Bet Holmgren was watching what Detmer and the Eagles did to them on Monday night though, and a confident ‘Hawks team might make this closer than lots of folks figure. The Niners are just too talented to lose two in a row at home though. ************************************* St. Louis at Philadelphia EAs if losing McNabb wasn’t enough, the Eagles now lose repectable back-up Koy Detmer. Eventually that QB situation will catch up with them. They do have 43 other guys on that roster who aren’t exactly chopped liver though. Saint Louis is 0-3 this year vs the NFC east, and Philly in December is a tough place for a Dome team. Even going against the 3rd string QB I am not that confident in this pick. ************************************* Tampa Bay -1.5 at New Orleans +1.5This is a really huge game for both teams. The Saints are slowly sinking in the standings while Tampa is coming on strong. Lost in the malay is that they are only two games apart and if Nawlins can pull it out they would have swept Tampa and own any playoff tie-breakers. I love the way Tampa is playing and being that they were my preseason pick I am going with them, but I probably wont be putting an awful lot of scratch on this one either. ************************************* Monday, Dec. 2
|  Florida +3.5 at Florida State -3.5GET ACTION ON THIS GAME NOW - CLICK HERE This game has lost some of its luster this season with Florida not being the Beast of the SEC. Forida St. has won the ACC but backed in losing to NC State last week. Scandal rocked the Florida State Campus this week with sophmore QB McPhersons check writing scandal. Most folks think that this will be a distraction. The Doc has been riding USC all season and they are really peaking right now. If there were a playoff system this would be one really dangerous squad. Norte Dame has been shocking people all year, right from the get go. Ty Willingham has done a great job and still has ND seeking an at large BCS bid. This game will go a long way toward that goal. The ND defense has been shutting down big time offenses all year, and quietly the Doc likes the match up of the ND secondary against the Trojans passing game. Just like when they went into Fla State earlier this year, they were double digit underdogs then and they are in that role again. Even if they dont pull it off they are too good a team to give up that many against. *************************************
