| Exclusively on The NFL EDGE SO, where are the huge matchups this week? After being spoiled by weeks upon weeks of great rivalry games, this week seems to come up short. The Doc thinks that although this week's games lack a certain sex appeal, they will come up big in entertainment value for true college ball fans. I see some close games on the horizon, with the visitors taking it to the homeboys.

Ohio State -8.5 at Illinois +8.5GET ACTION ON THIS GAME NOW - CLICK HERE This Illinois team is tough. They will hit you, and they can score. Ohio State, on the other hand, hasn't played all that well on the road this season. Do we smell an upset? Nah. Coach Tressel will have the Buckeyes ready for a sixty minute game, and that brutish Buckeye D will take care of business. Getting pasted by the Sooners early on still sticks in everyones memory, but the 'horns are playing good ball right about now. Still, this one won't be easy. Tech QB Kliff Kingsbury runs one of the more dynamic offenses in the country, while Texas counters with a defense that is just loaded with stars. Sunday, Nov. 17Pittsburgh -2.5 at Tennessee +2.5The Titans come into this game riding a bit of a win streak and now in a battle for the division title. Pittsburgh has a bit of a cushion in thier division, but as they put it, they "didnt win" last week. This is a tough game that could go either way. The Steelers have a better defense, which is a big deciding factor as well as more weapons like Plaxico Burress, and Hienze Ward to exploit the Tennessee defensive secondary - which is exactly where they will win this game. ************************************* Washington +3.5 at N.Y. Giants -3.5The Gints have put together back to back wins and find themselves back in the mix after everyone buried them a couple weeks ago. The Skins dropped a game in Jacks. last week and need this game to pull even with the Gints. If the Skins had a healthy RB Stephen Davis they could exploit the Giants weakness stopping the run. Despite the Giants victories they have found a way to keep teams hanging around this year, and eventually that will bite them. Will it be this week?? ************************************* Carolina +9.5 at Tampa Bay -9.5This is the type of game that might be easy to overlook. Sure Tampa is a much better team than Carolina. Throw in the fact that Carolina lost they way they did, giving up two TDs in the final 40 seconds last week. Lost in that is how they battled the Saints and led that game with 40 seconds left. They still have a fiesty defense. Getting Rodney Peete back at QB gives them some passing threat to keep Tampas defense honest. Tampa wasn't really lighting it up offensively - until they played the Vikes a couple weeks back. This has all the makings of a defensive struggle, and in games like that with spreads like this, I will take the points - thank you very much. ************************************* San Francisco at San Diego EThe Chargers have to be the surprise team in the NFL this year. They started much the same way last year, then swooned to finish the season. This years version, is better than last years, much of that due to head Coach Marty Shotttenheimer. They are a quality team who despite getting beat this week by San Fran will rebound and not completely collapse. ************************************* Denver -2.5 at Seattle +2.5This game should be mismatch. Seattle is truly a bad football team. Forget that "impressive" victory last week - that was the Cardnals. Denver comes in after getting spanked at home with a chip on thier shoulder. Seattle just simply does not have enough horses to run with the Broncos. ************************************* Jacksonville -5.5 at Houston +5.5Another mismatch on the menu. Sure Houston beat Jacksonville in Jacksonville just a few weeks ago. So if you are tempted to think that Houston is the better team grab them and the 5.5 points. I like Jacksonville to take revenge in Houston and roll by two touches or more. ************************************* N.Y. Jets -2.5 at Detroit +2.5Yet another mismatch. Is this too easy?? The Jets have really started putting things together since inserting Chad Pennington at QB. The same could be said for the Lions with Joey Harrington. The difference is that the Jets offer up a little better defense. Its almost too easy, which always makes me leary - watch all three of these home dogs win! I wont bet on it though. ************************************* New England +2.5 at Oakland -2.5Hmmm the most curious match up of the day. The Raiders fresh off thier monday night victory come home to face the resilient Patriots. The re-match of the AFC championship game. This time the refs get it right...  Alabama at LSU EGET ACTION ON THIS GAME NOW - CLICK HERE This is a meeting between two of the very best coaches in the country. The players aren't so bad, either. Bama is serving out their NCAA sentence and are not bowl - eligible this season, which is too bad. Dennis Franchione has really been impressive walking into a tough situation and keeping his kids on board. I like the Tide to win a close game on the road, defense and kicking giving 'Bama... Set Your Bookmark Now! Southern Cal -13.5 at Arizona State +13.5GET ACTION ON THIS GAME NOW - CLICK HERE This USC team is the best they've had over in South Central since the Rodney Peete days. The big difference is Pete Carroll. He has the Trojans playing much tougher defense and finishing opponents off. Carson Palmer is making the most of his fifth year and seems to be doing everything right. As for ASU, they have a powerful offense but not much in the way of D. Even with the home field, I dont see them being able to contain SC's passing game. They need to play mistake-free on offense, and the Doc doesn't see it happening. *************************************
