ARIZONA +5.5 @ NY GIANTS -5.5
OVER/UNDER 37.5
Well the Giants last week secured thier exclusion from the Playoffs and the Cardnals
they are too inexperienced in winning to mount any type of playoff threat.
With the Pressure off the Gints might very well finally show glimpses of the team they once were.
Albeit they are playing the Cardnals. The Giants still help teams to hang around though.
****************************************
NY GIANTS 17 - Cards 13
****************************************
FINAL NY GIANTS 17 - Cards 13 WINNER!
uncanny, huh??
OAKLAND -4.5 @ SAN DIEGO +4.5
OVER/UNDER 46.5
So its finally over for me, the Flutie Magic, the fabulous finishes. Playing the highly touted
Raiders another thrilling shootout perhaps? Brown and Rice will be way too much for the Charger secondary.
This one might get ugly...
****************************************
Raydezz 33 - San Diego 17
****************************************
FINAL OAKLAND 13 - San Diego 6 WINNER
Atlanta +3.5 at Indianapolis -3.5
OVER/UNDER 45.5
Indy looking completely helpless and inept on National Television gets to go dome-home
to-do diddly-poo. Figure Atlanta provides a solid Defense and can hang with the Colts,
The upset will be difficult though in the RCA Dome for an apparent fading Falcon team.
****************************************
Indy 27 - Atl. 14
****************************************
FINAL IND. 41 - Atl. 27 WINNER
Cincinnati +8.5 at N.Y. Jets -8.5
OVER/UNDER 34.5
Another potential mismatch where the Bengals come to NY.
Where the Jets are struggling not only on the field but mentally against
a self-manifesting December Curse. Any curses on the Jets while personally fascinating
are tempting enough without 8.5 the big points are a bonus as the Jets will struggle
to disprove "the december curse" which they will trumpet all over the news
after they squeek out this victory.
****************************************
Jets 19 - Bengals 13
****************************************
FINAL JETS 15 - CINCI 14 WINNER

Denver at Kansas City NL
OVER/UNDER NL
NO line means no write ups -- file this under way to fishy of an injury.
Heres the BOTTOM LINE -- Denver will win, somehow.
****************************************
Denver 21 - KC 17
****************************************
FINAL KC 26 - Denv 23 LOSER
Jacksonville +2.5 at Cleveland -2.5
OVER/UNDER 35.5
A struggling one dimensional Jacksonville offense, though victorious last week,
will not equal the feat against a stout Cleve. Defense in thier "DOG Pound" in December.
Figure the Jags to keep it close, but Couch and Cleveland keep building and growing.
****************************************
Cleve. 14 Jax. 9
****************************************
FINAL JACKS. 15 - Cleve 10 LOSER
Minnesota -2.5 at Detroit +2.5
OVER/UNDER 45.5
The number gets smaller and smaller for Detroit, as it seems that even Vegas
will have to start to pull for Detroit soon. Despite the fact that Detroit has covered in its last three.
We were impressed with Minnesotas offense enough to figure they will score frequently
and often against Detr0-0-0it. That is if Randy Moss FEELS like playing on Sunday!?!
****************************************
Minn. 26 - Detr. 19
****************************************
FINAL DET 27 - MINN 24 LOSER

|
New England -3.5 at Buffalo +3.5
OVER/UNDER 38.5
The Pats come steamrolling into Buffalo at 8-5, and despite the winning mark
aren't often in the position as favorites this year. Buffalo while still playing pathetically got off a big schnied
last week and will come hard against thier good buddies from Boston (area) and although mustering little challenge
during the game the final tally is all that counts.
****************************************
New Engl. 23 - Buf 20
****************************************
FINAL N.E. 12 - BUF 9 WINNER
Tampa Bay -2.5 at Chicago +2.5
OVER/UNDER 33.5
So one big loss to Green Bay and Chicago is disrespected to the tune of
2.5 point home dog. Despite Tampas win streak Chicago will play the same type of game as the Bucs.
While the Bucs seem to be hitting thier stride at the right time. They have always struggled outdoors
up north this time of year. Dont think that will effect the outcome, but the squeaky nature they have been winning will.
****************************************
Chi. 18 - Tampa 17
****************************************
FINAL CHI 27 - Tamp 3 WINNER
Miami +3.5 at San Francisco -3.5
OVER/UNDER 43.5
A big victory for Miami and a coast to coast trip on a short week will take its toll on the Dolphins.
While the Niners are looking to rebound big from last weeks letdown in St. Louis. This will not be as big a game really for the Dolphins
and wont really hurt them too much anyway.
****************************************
San Fran. 22 - Miami 17
****************************************
FINAL SAN FRAN 21 - Miami 0 WINNER

Dallas +5.5 at Seattle -5.5
OVER/UNDER 35.5
The Cowboys are feeling cocky after two consecutive victories and winning 3 in a row
against the spread. This week they will be reminded that they lost eight other games this season.
The Seahawks need to regroup after last weeks trip to Denver.
****************************************
Sea. 26 - Dall 15
****************************************
FINAL SEA. 29 - Dall 3 WINNER
Green Bay -2.5 at Tennessee +2.5
OVER/UNDER 42.5
Games like this that lack luster -- except to folks in Wisconsin and Tennessee.
often fail to get the best performances out of QB Brett Farve. As pointed out here on the NFL Edge
there are huge holes in the Tenn. secondary which will invariably do them in yet again.
****************************************
Green Bay 21 - Tenn. 13
****************************************
FINAL TENN 26 - G.B. 20 LOSER
Philadelphia -2.5 at Washington +2.5
OVER/UNDER 34.5
A rematch of a couple weeks ago when Washington went into Philly and upset the 10 point favored Eagles.
This time the line is much smaller and it shouldn't be. Philly is playing good football and will be looking to
make a big statement in the NFC East. Philly is a far better road team statistically this year.
****************************************
Philly 23 - Wash. 19
****************************************
FINAL PHI 20 - Wash 6 WINNER
Pittsburgh +2.5 at Baltimore -2.5
OVER/UNDER 33.5
Pittsburgh comes in on with a big head of steam, though possibly without Jerome Bettis.
Even so this is the time of year last year when Baltimore asserted itself as the Leagues best team.
These two defenses will keep the scoring at a premium, still I like the Ravens to hit a couple of big plays and exploit thier advantage
at kicker.
****************************************
Ravens 20 - Pitt 16
****************************************
FINAL Pitts 26 - Balt. 21 LOSER
Monday, Dec. 17
St. Louis -5.5 at New Orleans +5.5
OVER/UNDER

We'll SEE YOU BACK HERE NEXT WEEK!!

Another year is winding down, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for checking us out and especially those who have been reading my column here regularly. Knowing that you're out there (and believe me when I say we pay attention to the ever increasing number of letters and traffic on this site) makes this task much more rewarding and challenging. Especially those of you who call me out when I mess up!
Despite a less than stellar record by the Docs standards,
I was just looking back at my top twenty list from this preseason.
Check it out: 2001 Season Preview
1.Florida, 2. Miami, 3. Nebraska. Not too shabby. The only real snafu was putting Florida State in my top 5,
I was sure to add the caveat that Bobby was actually going to have to coach this season.
Had to respect his amazing run at top five finishes though. On the opposite side of the Coaching Spectrum.
The Canes; the main reason I was reluctant to put them on top was the loss of Head Coach Butch Davis to the Browns.
Often times the value of a coach is underestimated.
In this case, fortunately for all you "Bottom Dwellers",
Coker has allowed ya'll to forget about that traitor Davis.
Rounding out the top ten, Oregon, Okla., Tenn., Mich., Texas,
all had respectable campaigns and could yet wind up a couple notches higher with Bowl Victories.
Even my sleeper pick LSU in the top ten looks good now that they won the SEC Crown.
So a big Thank You to all of you who have been following along at home these past several weeks, it has been my pleasure serving up a healthy helping of hype and hoopla to go along with Saturday Afternoon in the fall.
Make sure to check back early next week for the Doc's Bowl Picks.
