Tennessee +3.5 @ Baltimore -3.5
OVER/UNDER 33.5
This will be a brutal tough game. Baltimore comes home with a tough road win in Denver.
Only to face an 0-2 Tenn. team with 2 weeks to prepare for the Ravens. Hard to see a team as good as Tenn. going 0-3 but this will be a tough place to get their first win.

Balt. 16 - Tenn. 14

FINAL Balt 26 - Tenn 7 Winner/No Cov
Washington +13.5 @ New York -13.5
OVER/UNDER 36.5
Sure the Redskins have looked just awful in their first two outings, but this is different this is a divisional game against the hated Giants. The First place Giants, the Skins will come to play, though they cant muster much offense, the Giants Offensive line is banged up and that will help Washingtons Defense. Stephen Davis usually plays big against the Giants, that and the 14 points make Wash. very attractive. The Gints will get a scare and if they are looking past the Skins they will get beat!
****************************************
New York 20 - Wash. 14
****************************************
FINAL Gints 23 - Was 9 Winner/No cov
San Diego -2.5 @ Cleveland +2.5
OVER/UNDER 34.5
Big 'D' has been right on Cleveland all along, and I thought he was nuts picking them to win in Jacksonville. Their Defense is the real deal and Tim Couch is emerging as a top flight leader.
But these are Doug Fluties Chargers, and that little guy just finds ways to pull it out.
****************************************
San Diego 16 - Cleve 13
****************************************
FINAL Cleve 20 - SD 16 LOSER
Arizona +14.5 @ Phila. -14.5
OVER/UNDER 41.5
Philly looked so impressive Sunday against Dallas, that some people are penciling the Eagles in the SuperBowl Already. Another Canonfodder team this week should get some people choking on cheesesteak calling for the Lombardi Trophy already!! No surprises here, the Cards are their usual disappointing selves and wont offer much challenge. Unless the Eagles spent too much time watching the replays of their game against Dallas and not getting ready for the Cards, this will be another Birdbath!
****************************************
Philly 38 - Ariz. 20
****************************************
FINAL Ariz 21 - Phi 20 LOSERS
Chicago +3.5 @ Atlanta -3.5
OVER/UNDER 39.5
Atlanta is a 2-1 Fraud. There that being said they will now become a 3-1 fraud. I just am not impressed by the Bears. Although Jim Miller is an improvement at QB and they have nice WR's and a solid Defense. They will be aided by the Falcons loss of Jamal Anderson. Falcons QB Chris Chandler gives Atlanta the better chance to win, but it will be a struggle.
****************************************
Atl. 17 - Chi. 16
****************************************
FINAL Chi 31 - Atl 3 COVER
Cincinnati +6.5 @ Pittsburgh -6.5
OVER/UNDER 35.5
The upset Special! Sure Pitts. looked real solid against the inept Bills, but of their 20 points 7 were handed to them on a Buffalo Turnover, and Kordell looked just as bad as ever. Bettis will be solid as will the Defense. Cincy is looking to bounce back after a tough loss in San Diego, and thanks to Corey Dillon and John Kitna, they will!
****************************************
Cinci 21 - Pitts 20
****************************************
FINAL Pitts 16 - Cinci 7 LOSER
Minnesota +3.5 @ New Orleans -3.5
OVER/UNDER 43.5
Another tough game to pick, alas the Edge fears no game. Sure the Vikes righted the ship last week (and c'mon folks WHO ELSE PICKED THAT UPSET!!!) but before hoping on that wagon, they still have lots of issues. Primarily with their Defense and Running game. New Orleans is for real. Very scrappy talented bunch. Looking for revenge for getting bounced out of last years playoffs. After facing this Defense you'll be seeing Randy Moss pointing fingers again, and not the No. 1!
****************************************
New Orleans 27 - Minn. 23
****************************************
FINAL N.O. 25 - Minn 15 WINNER

New England +9.5 @ Miami -9.5
OVER/UNDER 35.5
Was last week a fluke, Miami throttled by the Rams, and New England breaking the Colts like a circus pony! Sure it was, back to reality this week, back to business for Miami. Just like we warned you to stay off Indy last week, we will warn you again, refuse to listen at your own peril. This will be a tight Defensive game, and Brady is a better QB for NE than people give him credit for. Sure I am taking Miami but they would be just as happy to win by 1 as by 10 in fact if they are ahead by 3-0 at the half the Phins could try to run out the clock starting in the 3rd Quarter -- now just like your old man tells you not to smoke as he lights up a lucky, you are on your own here kids.
****************************************
Miami 19 - NE 9
****************************************
FINAL Miami 30 - NE 10 WINNER
Kansas City +10.5 @ Denver -10.5
OVER/UNDER 47.5
After a rousing win on the road this line seems a bit generous. Must be that everyone figures the Broncs will bounce back big. Well so does the Edge. I am a bit leary of this game though and feel that the Chiefs have a pretty good team and this being the Division Rival Broncos figure the Chief will play at their best. The lack of real reciever threats figure to hurt the Cheifs here, as well as the Mile high Altitude.
****************************************
Denver 30 - KC 21
****************************************
FINAL Denver 20 - KC 6 Winner/No Cov
Jacksonville @ Seattle NL
OVER/UNDER NL
Tough to call this game, without Brunell Jacks. seemed very ordinary losingto the Browns at home. Despite the whupping Oakland put on the Hawks last week they actually made progress finally reaching the Endzone. I like Ricky Watters but he just cant do it alone. Even without Brunell Jacks. should be favored, with him its a cinch!
****************************************
Jacks. 24 - Sea. 17
****************************************
FINAL Sea 24 - Jax 15 LOSER
NY Jets -4.5 @ Buffalo +4.5
OVER/UNDER 35.5
The once proud Bills look like hamburger after getting shellacked at home, and the Jets well they are the Jets. They look much better on paper anyway. The Bills lost more players due to injury last week, and it figures to only get worse this week. Rob Johnson is the Bills best weapon, and he may get sacked more times than he completes passes. The Jets are pathetic enough to keep the Bills in the game and might even find a way to lose it too.
****************************************
Jets 17 - Buffalo 16
****************************************
FINAL Jets 42 - Buf 36 Winner/No Cov
Green Bay +2.5 @ Tampa Bay -2.5
OVER/UNDER 36.5
This will be the game of the week. The Bucs vaunted D against the rampaging Packers of Brett Farve.
The surrounding cast will make all the difference here. Tampa figure to really need this game and will be playing hard. Everyone knows about the Buc Defense, but hold it now, Green Bay has really been playing well defensively too. You can analyze and dissect this game all you want but here at the Edge we will simplify this for you, Farve vs. Johnson whos your money on. I thought so.
****************************************
Pack 23 - Tampa 20
****************************************
FINAL Tampa 14 - GB 10 LOSER
Dallas +18.5 @ Oakl. -18.5
OVER/UNDER 41.5
Hard to swallow a line this big. Apparently more and more people are catching on to what we've been saying here at the edge all year. The Pokes could be the worst team in the league. Just keep in mind that every dog has his day, will it be this week? Unlikely, but that line could be up as high as 20 by game time. Meaning even if Dallas can bumble into the Endzone once the Raiders will have to put up 30 or more to cover. Somehow though this team Raider just wins (baby!)
****************************************
Oakl. 34 - Dall. 13
****************************************
FINAL Oakl 28 - Dal 21 Winner/No Cov
Carolina -5.5 @ San Fran +5.5
OVER/UNDER 45.5
Carolina had some folks fooled with their opening day win. That is becoming more and more of a memory in the tar heel state. The fact of the matter is that Basketball season will be starting soon and they will have something to cheer for soon. San Fran made a statement on National TV and are coming into the softer part of their schedule. They are gaining confidence with every win and are looking more and more like that cinderella team that emerges every year. Get on this wagon now, cause in the next few weeks that line will be getting bigger and bigger.
****************************************
SF 27 - Car. 17

FINAL San Fran 24 - Car 14 WINNER

For College Fans!
This is the Doctor's favorite part of the season - the beginning of league
play. This is the time where the great rivalries and grudge matches are
fought. In that frame of mind, I am focusing on some of the marquee
interconference games. They are:

Florida -13.5 @ L.S.U. +13.5
Over/under 54.5
The Gators have owned the Tigers under Steve Spurrier, plain
and simple. Last year in the Swamp Florida laid a 44-9 beating on LSU, and
they have plenty of weapons this year as they travel to Death Valley. Rex
Grossman and Jabar Gaffney have been lighting up the Florida skies with
Spurrier's Fun n Gun offense. They will be facing the nations fifth ranked
scoring D. Take the Gators in a close one. Saban is too good to get whupped
at home.
****************************************
Fla. 35 - LSU 27
****************************************
FINAL Fla 44 - LSU 15 Winner/No Cov.
Northwestern +3.5 at Ohio State -3.5
Over/under 51.5
Just a few years ago, no one would believe that
this game would be anything more than a gimme for the Buckeyes in league
play. These days, the Wildcats are a team to be reckoned with. QB Zak
Kustok is playing his way into Heisman contention, and should give Ohio State
all it can handle. The Buckeyes are favorites just for old times' sake, but
I'm taking the Wildcats in this one. Steve Bellesari is more of a linebacker
than a QB.
****************************************
Northwestern 26 - Ohio St. 23
****************************************
FINAL OSU 38 - NW 20 LOSER

|
Colorado +10.5 at Kansas State -10.5
Over/under 52.5
Lots of people dismissed Colorado after they
opened up with a loss to Fresno State. Oh, how little we knew about those
Bulldogs back then. Colorado is a solid team, and will give K State a run.
El Roberson showed lots of maturity last week in a tough loss to Oklahoma.
The Wildcats will right the ship at home this week, but it should be close.
****************************************
Kan St 28 - Colo. 24
****************************************
FINAL Colo 16 - KSU 6 COVER
Oklahoma +3.5 at Texas -3.5
Over/under 57.5
The Red River Shootout. This is as big as it gets, as
two top ten powers collide. Mac Brown needs to prove to the Longhorn
Faithful that he can win the big games. This is his chance. Chris Simms
must have a big game to keep the screams for Major Applewhite quiet. This
one will be tough, but I like the defending national champs in a close one.
Bob Stoops will outcoach Mac and that will be the difference.
****************************************
Okla 30 - Texas 27
****************************************
FINAL OU 14 - Tex 3 WINNER
