The NFL PICKS:
|
|
|
Buffalo +9.5 @ Indianpolis -9.5
OVER/UNDER 44.5
The Bills sure played a tough half against N.O.,
the good news is Indy does not have the Saints Defense.
The Colts probably have the Best Offense in the AFC though, sorry Bills fans.
****************************************
Indy 34 - Buf 17
****************************************
FINAL Ind. 42 - Buf 26 WINNER
Oakland +1.5 @ Miami -1.5
OVER/UNDER 40.5
Miami is looking for payback from last years playoff shutout.
With increased speed on the outside at WR and the demolition D,
they should show the Raiders that this is NOT last year. Besides the odds are against winning 2 in a row on the road.
****************************************
Miami 20 - Oak. 14
****************************************
FINAL Mia 18 - OAK 15 WINNER
Tenn. +2.5 @ Jacksonville -2.5
OVER/UNDER NL
This used to be the premier rivalry in the AFC a couple years ago, and this game should prove no different.
Jacksonville was impressive opening day, but I still have some questions about thier Defense. Yeah Brunell can light it up,
but not if he's on the sidelines watching Eddie George run. The Titans will not start 0-2
****************************************
Tenn 24 - Jax 21
****************************************
FINAL Jax 13 - Ten 6 LOSER
Balt. -7.5 @ Cincy +7.5
OVER/UNDER 32.5
Cincy has thus far been the biggest surprise of the 1 week old season.
Baltimore is no surprise, they are great defensively, but barely covered against the woeful bears last week at home!
The Bengals with Corey Dillon Running and Kitna at QB will better exploit what the Bears couldn't. They might not win but Cincy will
keep it close.
****************************************
Balt. 20 - Cinci 14
****************************************
FINAL Cinc 21 - Balt 10 COVER
Carolina +3.5 @ Atlanta -3.5
OVER/UNDER 40.5
Atlanta had SF right where it wanted them and let that game slip away.
That will be haunting them all week, Carolina with a confident QB Wenke,
doesnt know they arent supposed to win 2 in a row on the road. Besides
Even if Atlanta HAPPENS to win, they wont do it by much.
****************************************
Atl. 17 - Car 14
****************************************
FINAL Atl 24 - Car 16 WINNER/no cover

|
Detroit -2.5 @ Cleve. +2.5
OVER/UNDER 33.5
Detroit doesnt impress me that much, but should be able to right the ship this week in Cle.
The X factor here is Big 'D' saying Cleve. will be a surprise team this year. After the way they shut down the
seahawks last week, he may be onto something, or on something, which is what I must be picking this upset!
****************************************
Det 17 - Cleve 15
****************************************
FINAL Cle 24 - Det 14 COVER
Minn. -2.5 @ Chi. +2.5
OVER/UNDER 43.5
Someone please tell me how this can only be a 2.5 point spread! PLEASE post it in the
FORUM. How is Chicago going to score, even against Minn. Defense. Week one was an abomination the Vikes will rebound, BIG!
****************************************
Minn. 38 - Chi. 15
****************************************
FINAL Chi 17 - Minn 10 LOSER
NY Giants +1.5 @ KC -1.5
OVER/UNDER 38.5
After what went on in NY this past week the Giants could come out sky high and roll up the Chiefs.
That would be expecting an awful lot from a team that has been through what this team must have this week.
Emotion can carry a team for a drive or a quarter. Arrowhead is a tough place to play. The Chiefs with Dick Vermeil will likely not go 0-2 at home to start the season.
****************************************
KC 19 - NYG 17
****************************************
FINAL Gints 13 - KC 3 LOSER
San Diego -3.5 @ Dall. +3.5
OVER/UNDER 34.5
Anyone doubting the magic of Doug Flutie need only look at the fact that the Chargers have already won as many games as they did all last year.
Dallas is now in the role the Chargers were in last year. Is Dallas that bad? Yes, oh yes!
****************************************
S.D. 23 - Dall. 9
****************************************
FINAL SD 32 - Dal 21 WINNER
NY Jets -1.5 @ N.E. +1.5
OVER/UNDER 38.5
I made the mistake of overestimating BOTH of these teams last week.
Well that wont happen this week, because one of these two has to win.
The Pats will stay in this game as they have a habit of doing, but losing
by less than 7 every week is still losing!
****************************************
Jets 27 - N.E. 21
****************************************
FINAL Jets 10 - Pats 3 WINNER
St. Louis -6.5 @ S.F. +6.5
OVER/UNDER 51.5
San Fran is another surprise team of this year, but St. Louis is no surprise.
They are the Rams and will find much easier going against this Defense
than Philly last week.
****************************************
Rams 37 - San Fran 27
****************************************
FINAL Rams 30 - 49ers 26 WIN/NO COVER
Philla. -3.5 @ Sea. +3.5
OVER/UNDER 36.5
Sure Philly is a good team, and yes they will compete for a playoff spot. But I think
Seattle is a much better team than people think, I like the improvements to their Defense,
and Hasselback is a fine young QB being molded by Holmgren.
****************************************
Sea. 20 - Phil. 19
****************************************
FINAL Phi 27 - Sea 3 LOSER
Denver -7.5 @ Ariz +7.5
OVER/UNDER 44.5
Some folks are saying that Arizona will be the surprise team in the NFC East this year.
By virtue of not playing last week Az finds itself in first, bam theres the surprise.
Well enjoy it Cardnal fans, you may not see it again for a long time.
****************************************
Den. 31 - Ariz. 13
****************************************
FINAL Denv 38 - Az 17 WINNER
Wash. +8.5 @ Green Bay -8.5
OVER/UNDER 40.5

For College Fans!
After a week of mourning and contemplating the feasibility of a war on
terrorism, the Doctor is BACK! I probably needed a week off after the beating
taken from the previous week. I devoted more time and effort into my analysis to get back on track, so without any further delay Heres this weeks
picks:

Iowa State +2.5 at Ohio -2.5
I love this Cyclone team. A little bird told me that QB
Senaca Wallace is the real deal. Ia. State will chew clock with workhorse RB Ennis Haywood, and Wallace will throw for a couple as well. Ohio runs the option, led by QB Dontrell Jackson, and will create problems for a young Cyclone D. However, I'll go against my own "new" cardinal rule here and pick Iowa State on the road.
****************************************
Ia. St. 35 - Ohio 14
****************************************
FINAL Ia St. 31 - Oh. 28 WINNER/cover
USC +6.5 at Oregon -6.5
Pete Carroll can gain instant credibility for the Trojans
with a win at Oregon. This would be a tall order for any team. These Ducks
are loaded with talent, and QB Joey Harrington will be up for the challenge
presented by a tough SC secondary. This USC team has underachieved of late,
but the trojans have enough talent to play with anyone. I like the matchups
for USC, but they will find a way not to win.
****************************************
Oregon 28 - USC 24
****************************************
FINAL Ore. 24 - USC 22 WINNER

|
Auburn +1.5 at Syracuse -1.5
Two teams that are far removed from the epic 1988 Sugar
Bowl tie will clash in upstate NY. Auburn has some impressive athletes,
especially on defense, but I love the 'Cuse at home. The dome is one of the
bigger home field advantages in all of college football, and should be just
enough to get the Orangemen back on track.
****************************************
S.U. 20 - Aub. 16
****************************************
FINAL Syr 31 - Aub. 14 WINNER

BONUS PICK!!
Michigan State +8.5 at Notre Dame -8.5
Two more storied programs on the down side
lately. On paper, this game should be a relatively easy Irish win. The
offense, led by Matt Lovecchio and TB Tony Fisher, has got to be better than
what they showed in Lincoln. Michigan State has owned ND of late, taking the
last four. I like the Irish at home, but take the Spartans with that
ridiculous spread Vegas is offering.
****************************************
N.D. 24 - MSU 20
****************************************
FINAL MSU 17 - ND 10 COVER!
